How To Save / Bookmark a Combination Scan
January 26, 2017
I was just asked this:
Would like to reduce the time for scan runs…..I have 4 different Combo scans which would be great to store and run daily. Is there a simple way save the scans and run without manual input?
Here's the answer:
Update: Saving Combo Scans is much simpler now, just save them to a routine
The way to do that is to bookmark the URLs from your scans. But the trick is to remove the date. Check the URL after you run the scan and remove the section that looks like this: "&selected_date=01%2F25%2F2017" and bookmark that.
That works because when you run a scan without specifying a date the system defaults to the most recent trading day.
I've had an idea in the back of my mind to add a facility for people to save scans. My initial thought was to have different lists of scans which I might want to run depending on what the market is doing. For example, a group of scans to run when the market's been selling off hard for three weeks in a row and another group for when it's been range-bound and is at the top of the range, etc.
Now that the combo scans exist, I can see how one would want to save certain combinations to save time and simply just to remember what they are. I've also though about making those lists into checklists, which reset daily. So you could make sure you don't forget to run an important scan.
Is anybody else interested in saved scan (check)lists / groups?
