The fund invests in public equity markets across global region. It invests in stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. The fund invests in growth and value stocks of mid-cap companies, within the market capitalization range of the Russell Mid Cap Index. It invests in stocks of companies that are deemed socially conscious in their business dealings and directly promote environmental responsibility. It employs fundamental and quantitative analysis with bottom-up stock picking approach to create its portfolio. The fund does not invest in companies operating across manufacture of complete tobacco products, cluster munitions, thermal coal and fossil fuels sectors. The investment seeks investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of its underlying index, the IQ Merger Arbitrage Index. The fund employs a "passive management" to track the performance of the underlying index, which was developed by Financial Development Holdco LLC ("IndexIQ"). The underlying index seeks to employ a systematic investment process designed to identify opportunities in companies whose equity securities trade in developed markets, including the U.S., and which are involved in announced mergers, acquisitions and other buyout-related transactions.
