It focuses on acquiring royalty interests or financing projects that are in production or in development stage in exchange for royalty interests. As of June 30, 2013, the company owned royalty interests on 36 producing properties, 21 development stage properties, and 147 exploration stage properties. Its principal producing royalty interests on properties are located in the United States, Canada, Chile, Mexico, and Spain. The company also holds royalty interests in mines and projects in other countries, including Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Finland, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Peru, Russia, and Tunisia. Royal Gold, Inc. was founded in 1981 and is based in Denver, Colorado.
