Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is a type of cancer that develops in the squamous cells of the head and neck region. It is the most common type of head and neck cancer and can affect any part of the head and neck, including the mouth, nose, throat, larynx, and salivary glands. Symptoms of HNSCC can include a lump or sore in the mouth or throat that does not heal, a sore throat that does not go away, difficulty swallowing, and a hoarse voice. Treatment for HNSCC typically involves surgery, radiation therapy, and/or chemotherapy.
