Separately Managed Account

A separately managed account (SMA) is an investment account that is managed by a professional money manager on behalf of an individual investor. The money manager makes all the investment decisions for the account, and the investor has no direct control over the investments. The investor can, however, provide input on the types of investments they would like to see in the account. SMAs are typically used by high net worth individuals who have the resources to pay for the services of a professional money manager.
