Limoneira Company engages in agribusiness and real estate development business primarily in the United States. The company operates in three segments: Agribusiness, Rental Operations, and Real Estate Development. The Agribusiness segment grows, processes, packages, and sells lemons directly to food service, wholesale, and retail customers. It also grows avocados, oranges, and various specialty citrus and other crops, such as Satsuma mandarin oranges, Moro blood oranges, Cara Cara oranges, Minneola tangelos, Star Ruby grapefruit, pummelos, pistachios, cherries, peaches, plums, and olives, which are sold through its sales and marketing partners. This segment also markets its other specialty crops, such as pistachios, cherries, peaches, plums, and olives independently; and processes and packs lemons grown by others. It has approximately 2,060 acres of lemons; approximately 1,169 acres of avocados; approximately 1,654 acres of oranges; and approximately 773 acres of specialty citrus and other crops in Ventura and Tulare Counties, California. The Rental Operations segment engages in residential and commercial building rental activities; leases land; and organic recycling operations. This segment owns and maintains approximately 200 residential housing units located in Ventura and Tulare Counties; owns various commercial office buildings and a multi-use facility consisting of a retail convenience store, gas station, car wash, and quick-serve restaurant; and leases approximately 610 acres of land to third party agricultural tenants. The Real Estate Development segment develops land parcels, multi-family housing, and single-family homes. This segment has approximately 2,000 units in various stages of planning and development. Limoneira Company was founded in 1893 and is headquartered in Santa Paula, California.
