Flowers Foods, Inc. produces and markets bakery products in the United States. It operates in two segments, Direct-Store-Delivery (DSD) and Warehouse Delivery. The DSD segment produces fresh bakery foods, including fresh breads, buns, rolls, tortillas, and snack cakes. This segment offers its products under the brand names of Nature's Own, Whitewheat, Tastykake, Bluebird, Cobblestone Mill, ButterKrust, Dandee, Mary Jane, Mary Jane and Friends, Evangeline Maid, Captain John Derst, Country Hearth, Natural Grain, Flowers Foods, Mi Casa, Frestillas, and Barowsky's, as well as markets franchised and licensed brands, such as Sunbeam, Roman Meal, Bunny, Holsum, Aunt Hattie's, and Country Kitchen. It sells its products through DSD route delivery system to retail and foodservice customers in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, New England, and Southwest, as well as in select markets in California and Nevada. The Warehouse Delivery segment produces snack cakes, breads, rolls, and frozen breads for national retail, foodservice, vending, and co-pack customers. This segment markets its products under the brand names of Mrs. Freshley's, European Bakers, Broad Street Bakery, Leo's Foods, Juarez, and Tesoritos. The company was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Thomasville, Georgia. Flowers Foods, Inc. (NYSE:FLO) operates independently of Keebler Holding Corp. as of March 22, 2001.
