The First Bancshares, Inc. operates as a bank holding company for The First, A National Banking Association that provides commercial and retail banking services to small to medium-sized businesses, professional concerns, and individuals. The company offers various deposit products, including checking accounts, NOW accounts, and savings accounts; time deposits, such as money market accounts and certificates of deposit; and individual retirement accounts. It also provides commercial loans comprising secured and unsecured loans for working capital, business expansion, and purchase of equipment and machinery; consumer loans consisting of equity lines of credit, and secured and unsecured loans for financing automobiles, home improvements, education, and personal investments; and real estate construction and acquisition loans. In addition, the company originates loans to purchase existing or construct new homes, and to refinance existing mortgages. Further, it offers Internet banking services, voice response telephone inquiry services, commercial sweep accounts, cash management services, safe deposit boxes, travelers' checks, direct deposit of payroll and social security checks, automatic drafts for various accounts, automated teller machines, and VISA and MasterCard credit card services. As of April 30, 2013, the company offered its services through 19 locations in south Mississippi and Louisiana. The First Bancshares, Inc. is headquartered in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
