Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. provides logistics services in the United States and internationally. The company's services include consolidation or forwarding of air and ocean freight; value-added distribution; vendor consolidation; cargo insurance; domestic time definite transportation; purchase order management; and customized logistics solutions. Its airfreight services comprise the procurement of shipments from customers; determination of the routing; consolidation of shipments bound for a particular airport distribution point; and selection of airline for transportation to the distribution point. The company also offers breakbulk services, which comprise receiving and breaking down consolidated airfreight lots; and arranging for distribution of the individual shipments. Its ocean freight and ocean services consist of ocean freight consolidation; handling full container loads; and soliciting less-than container load freight, as well as preparing documentation, procuring insurance, arranging for packing and crating services, and providing consultation. In addition, the company assists importers to clear shipments through customs by preparing required documentation; calculates and provides for payment of duties and other taxes on behalf of the importer; arranges for required inspections by governmental agencies; and arranges for delivery, as well as provides other value added services at destination, such as warehousing and distribution, and inventory management. Further, it offers custom clearances for goods moving by rail and truck between the United States, Canada, and/or Mexico. The company's customers primarily include retailers and distributors of consumer electronics, department store chains, and clothing and shoe wholesalers, as well as high-tech, industrial, and automotive manufacturers. Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in Seattle, Washington.
