Brookline Bancorp, Inc. operates as the holding company for Brookline Bank, Bank Rhode Island, and First Ipswich Bank that provide commercial, business, and retail banking services to the corporate, municipal, and individual customers. The company accepts various deposit products, including demand checking accounts, NOW accounts, savings accounts, money market accounts, and certificate of deposit accounts. Its loan portfolio comprises first mortgage loans secured by commercial, multi-family, and residential real estate properties; indirect automobile loans; loans to business entities consisting of commercial lines of credit; loans to condominium associations; and loans and leases used to finance equipment used by small businesses. Brookline Bancorp, Inc. also provides financing for construction and development projects, home equity, and other consumer loans; and commercial loans, equipment financing loans and leases, and condominium association loans. In addition, the company offers insurance agency and advisory services, cash management products, online banking services, and investment services. As of December 31, 2012, it operated 46 banking offices in greater Boston, Massachusetts and greater Providence, Rhode Island. The company was founded in 1871 and is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
