Bank of the James Financial Group, Inc. operates as the holding company for Bank of the James that provides retail and commercial banking services in Virginia. The company offers various deposit products, including checking accounts, savings accounts, time deposits, money market accounts, certificates of deposit, individual retirement accounts, health care savings accounts, and non-interest bearing demand deposits. Its loan portfolio consists of short to medium-term commercial loans for purchase of equipment, facilities upgrades, inventory acquisition, and various working capital purposes; commercial and residential construction and development loans; commercial real estate mortgage loans; secured and unsecured consumer loans, such as personal loans, lines of credit, overdraft lines of credit, automobile loans, installment loans, demand loans, and home equity loans; and consumer residential mortgage loans. The company also provides safe deposit boxes, traveler's checks, direct deposit of payroll and social security checks, automatic drafts for various accounts, and credit card merchant services, as well as operates a shared network of automated teller machines. In addition, it offers securities brokerage and investment services; insurance and annuity products; and telephone and Internet banking services, including on-line bill pay. As of October 26, 2012, the company operated 9 full service locations and 1 limited service location, as well as a mortgage origination office in Forest, Virginia. Bank of the James Financial Group, Inc. is headquartered in Lynchburg, Virginia.
