Alico, Inc. operates as a agribusiness and land management company in central and southwest Florida. The company engages in cultivating, producing, and selling citrus fruits to fresh and processed citrus markets; contracting for harvesting, hauling, and marketing; purchasing and reselling citrus fruits; and cultivating, producing, and selling sugarcane. The company is also involved in the production and sale of beef cattle; sale of calves to feed yards and yearling grazing operations; and sale of cattle to contract cattle buyers and through local livestock auction markets. In addition, it leases land to others for grazing, farming, oil and mineral exploration, and recreational uses. Further, the company engages in the production and the sale of native plants to local landscaping companies; rock and sand mining; oil exploration; and real estate activities. As of December 05, 2012, it owned approximately 130,400 acres of land located in Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee, and Polk counties of Florida. The company was founded in 1960 and is based in Fort Myers, Florida.
