Good observation about the lack of volume.  I'm not sure how much it matters though given how the S&P has been so driven by just a handful of mega-caps. 

Interestingly, the small caps (IWM) are where the action has been the last few sessions and that index has had good volume on its last two up days.  IWM's rise has created a significant improvement in breadth (as measured by the % of stocks above their 50-day moving averages).  So for now on whether this move it legit, I'm going with "it is" until proven otherwise.
