Two Must-Subscribe Podcasts for Every Trader / Investor
I'd like to share two podcasts that I've recently discovered. They are:
- Michael Covel's Trend Following podcast (here's the iTunes Link)
- Investor's Business Daily's podcast (aka, "IBD's How to Make Money in Stocks Radio Show" | iTunes link)
Over the last couple of months I've been working my way through the archives of both shows. They are a treassure-trove of good trading information and I find that regularly listening to them helps me "keep my mind right".
The Trend Following podcast is like a Who's Who of trading legends. Just take a look at some of the guests:
- Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Prize winner)
- Vernon Smith (Nobel Prize winner)
- Harry Markowitz (Nobel Prize winner)
- Victor "Trader Vic" Sperandeo
- Ed Seykota
- Gerd Gigerenzer
- Dan Ariely
- Jack Schwager
- Michael Mauboussin
- Larry Williams
- Tom DeMark
- Tom Basso
- Yaron Brook
- Jerry Parker
- Mebane Faber
- Barry Ritholtz
- James Altucher
- Robert Greene
- Ryan Holiday
- Alexander Elder
- Charles Faulkner
- Gerald Celente
- Peter Brandt
- Peter Borish
- Jack Horner
- Larry Hite
- Brett Steenbarger
You should recognize many of those names! If you don't recognize them, then what easier way is there to get to know what these folks are about? That list contains some Original Turtle Traders and traders who have been featured in Jack Schwager's "Market Wizards" books. Whether you are a trend follower or not there's gold in those archives. Listening to these shows is like an audio course of market wizardry.
I like the IBD podcast because IBD founder William O'Neil's "How to Make Money in Stocks" is one of two books (the other being the above-listed Trader Vic's "Methods of a Wall Street Master") that opened my eyes to the proper way to trade. The IBD podcast has a few episodes with O'Neil himself being interviewed about his process. Each week contains a few minutes of discussion about the current market conditions and then an interview with an IBD portfolio manager and/or discussion about aspects of the IBD methodology.
I think both shows can provide valuable ongoing education to all market participants. Enjoy!
