- Clostridioides Difficile
Clostridioides difficile (formerly known as Clostridium difficile) is a type of bacteria that can cause diarrhea and other intestinal problems. It is the most common cause of infectious diarrhea in hospitals and long-term care facilities. C. difficile is spread through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects, or through contact with an infected person. Symptoms of C. difficile infection include watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, fever, and loss of appetite. Treatment typically involves antibiotics.
