Lysosomal Storage Disorder

Lysosomal Storage Disorders (LSDs) are a group of inherited metabolic disorders caused by the deficiency of lysosomal enzymes. These enzymes are responsible for breaking down and recycling certain molecules in the body. When these enzymes are deficient, the molecules accumulate in the lysosomes, leading to cell damage and organ dysfunction. Symptoms of LSDs vary depending on the specific disorder, but can include organ enlargement, skeletal abnormalities, developmental delays, and neurological problems.
