AMCON Distributing Company Description
AMCON Distributing Company, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the wholesale distribution of consumer products in the central, Rocky Mountain, and southern regions of the United States. The company operates in two segments, Wholesale Distribution and Retail Health Food. The Wholesale Distribution segment distributes various consumer products, which include cigarettes and tobacco, candy and other confectionery, beverages, groceries, paper products, health and beauty care products, frozen and chilled products, and institutional foodservice products. This segment serves approximately 5,000 retail outlets, including convenience stores, discount and general merchandise stores, grocery stores, liquor stores, drug stores, gas stations, and tobacco shops, as well as institutional customers comprising restaurants and bars, schools, sports complexes, and wholesalers. It also markets private label lines of snuff, water, candy products, batteries, films, and other products. The Retail Health Food segment operates retail health food stores that offer natural, organic, and specialty foods consisting of produce, baked goods, frozen foods, nutritional supplements, personal care items, and general merchandise. This segment operates six retail health food stores under the brand name of Chamberlin's Market & Café in and around Orlando, Florida; and eight retail health food stores in the Midwest under the Akin's Natural Foods Market brand name in Oklahoma, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas. AMCON Distributing Company was founded in 1981 and is based in Omaha, Nebraska.
