Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners L.P. owns and operates renewable power generating assets in Canada, the United States, and Brazil. As of December 31, 2012, the company's power generating facilities portfolio comprised hydroelectric generating stations on 69 river systems, wind facilities, and natural gas-fired plants with installed capacity of approximately 5,600 megawatts. It sells its generation output to public power authorities, load-serving utilities, and industrial users. The company was formerly known as Brookfield Renewable Power Fund and changed its name to Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners L.P. in November 2011. The company was founded in 1999 and is based in Hamilton, Bermuda. Brookfield Renewable Energy Partners L.P. is a subsidiary of Brookfield Renewable Partners Limited.
