- Reverse Takeover
A reverse takeover (RTO) is a type of corporate action in which a private company acquires a publicly listed company in order to bypass the lengthy and complex process of going public. The private company essentially takes over the public company, and the public company's stockholders become the majority owners of the private company. The process is also known as a reverse merger or a reverse initial public offering (IPO).
