    Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc. operates as the holding company for Sandy Spring Bank that provides commercial banking services to individuals and businesses in central Maryland and northern Virginia. It operates through three segments: Community Banking, Insurance, and Investment Management. The company offers various deposit products, including interest-bearing demand deposits, regular savings deposits, money market savings deposits, and time deposits. It also provides residential real estate loans; commercial real estate loans, commercial construction loans, leases, and other commercial loans; and consumer loans consisting of home equity loans and lines, installment loans, personal lines of credit, and marine loans. In addition, the company offers general insurance agency and personal trust services, as well as investment management and financial planning services to individuals, families, small businesses, and associations, including cash flow analysis, investment review, tax planning, retirement planning, insurance analysism, and estate planning. As of April 18, 2013, it operated 49 community offices in Anne Arundel, Carroll, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery, and Prince George's counties in Maryland; and Arlington, Fairfax, and Loudoun counties in Virginia. The company was founded in 1868 and is headquartered in Olney, Maryland.
