Universal Health Services, Inc., through its subsidiaries, owns and operates acute care hospitals, behavioral health centers, surgical hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and radiation oncology centers. Its hospitals offer various services, including general and specialty surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics, emergency room care, radiology, oncology, diagnostic care, coronary care, pediatric, pharmacy, and/or behavioral health services. As of February 28, 2013, the company owned and/or operated 23 acute care hospitals and 197 behavioral health centers located in 37 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It also manages and/or owns five surgical hospitals, and surgery and radiation oncology centers located in four states. Universal Health Services, Inc. was founded in 1979 and is headquartered in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
