Embryo transfer is a fertility treatment in which embryos created through in vitro fertilization (IVF) are transferred to the uterus of a woman or surrogate in order to achieve a successful pregnancy. During the procedure, a doctor inserts a thin catheter through the cervix and into the uterus, where the embryos are then released. Embryo transfer is typically the final step in the IVF process.
