End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) is a medical condition in which the kidneys are no longer able to function properly. It is the final stage of chronic kidney disease, and is usually caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, or other conditions that damage the kidneys. People with ESRD require dialysis or a kidney transplant to survive.
