Catheter Ablation

Catheter ablation is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat abnormal heart rhythms. It involves inserting a thin, flexible tube (catheter) into a vein or artery in the groin, neck, or arm and guiding it to the heart. Once in place, the catheter is used to deliver energy in the form of radiofrequency or cryoablation to the affected area of the heart. This energy destroys the abnormal tissue that is causing the abnormal heart rhythm. Catheter ablation can be used to treat a variety of heart rhythm disorders, including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, and ventricular tachycardia.
