Nuveen Preferred Income Opportunities Fund is a close-ended balanced mutual fund launched by Nuveen Investments Inc. The fund is co-managed by Nuveen Fund Advisors LLC, Nuveen Asset Management, LLC, and NWQ Investment Management Company, LLC. It invests in the public equity and fixed income markets of the United States. The fund seeks to invest in stocks of companies operating across diversified sectors. For the fixed income portfolio, it invests in investment grade securities rated BBB/Baa or better by S&P, Moody's, or Fitch. The fund employs fundamental analysis with a focus on top down analysis of industry sectors and fundamental credit analysis to make its investments. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the BofA/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index, and JPC Blended Index which consists of 82.5% of the BofA/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index and 17.5% of the Barclays Capital Securities Index. The fund was formerly known as Nuveen Multi-Strategy Income & Growth Fund. Nuveen Preferred Income Opportunities Fund was formed on March 26, 2003 and is domiciled in the United States.
