AMC Networks Inc. owns and operates cable television's brands delivering content to audiences, and a platform to distributors and advertisers in the United States and internationally. The company operates in two segments, National Networks, and International and Other. The National Networks segment owns nationally distributed entertainment programming networks comprising AMC, a television network that is focused on storytelling, such as commemoration of feature films and creation of original programming; WE tv, a women's network that features original series, programming, and feature films focused on women; IFC, a network that creates original comedies, and offers films from independent film distributors; and Sundance Channel, which showcases creative icons and emerging talent. This segment distributes its networks in the United States through cable and other multichannel video programming distribution platforms, including direct broadcast satellite and platforms operated by telecommunications providers. The International and Other segment operates AMC/Sundance Channel Global, an international programming business that consists of 7 distinct channels in 13 languages across 24 countries focusing primarily on AMC in Canada, and global versions of the Sundance Channel and WE tv brands. This segment also operates IFC Films, an independent film distribution business that distributes films across various media platforms, including theaters, cable/satellite video-on-demand, DVDs and cable network television, and streaming/downloading to computers and other electronic devices; AMC Networks Broadcasting & Technology, a network programming feed origination and distribution company; and VOOM HD that sells programming through program license agreements. AMC Networks Inc. was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in New York, New York.
