Unit Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the contract drilling, oil and natural gas, and mid-stream businesses primarily in the United States. Its Contract Drilling segment is involved in the land contract drilling of onshore oil and natural gas wells for oil and natural gas companies in Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Montana, and North Dakota. This segment operates a fleet of 127 drilling rigs. The company's Oil and Natural Gas segment engages in the acquisition, development, exploration, and production of oil and natural gas properties in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Wyoming, as well as in Canada. As of December 31, 2012, this segment had approximately 151 gross proved undeveloped wells. Its Mid-Stream segment buys, sells, gathers, processes, and treats natural gas. This segment operates 3 natural gas treatment plants, 14 processing plants, and 39 active gathering systems, as well as approximately 1,300 miles of pipeline in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Unit Corporation was founded in 1963 and is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
