South Jersey Industries, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the sale and delivery of natural gas, and provides other energy related services. Its regulated utility sells and delivers natural gas in southern New Jersey. It also sells natural gas and pipeline transportation capacity via off-system sales. As of December 31, 2012, the utility had approximately 122.7 miles of mains in the transmission system and 6,142 miles of mains in the distribution system. The company served 357,306 residential, commercial, and industrial customers. Its non-regulated businesses provide energy solutions that help customers control energy costs. The company acquires and sells natural gas and electricity for retail commercial and industrial customers throughout the northeast. It markets gas supplies on a wholesale basis from the Marcellus Shale and provides wholesale commodity marketing and risk management services to energy marketers, electric and gas utilities, and natural gas producers in the mid-Atlantic, Appalachian, and southern regions of the United States. The company also develops, builds, owns, and operates on-site energy projects, including thermal facilities and combined heat and power facilities; solar systems; and landfill gas to electricity facilities. The company services heating, air conditioning, and water heating equipment and performs energy audits. South Jersey Industries, Inc. was founded in 1910 and is headquartered in Folsom, New Jersey.
