MiX Telematics Limited engages in the design, development, and sale of fleet management technology solutions; and provision of vehicle tracking services for the consumer and commercial vehicle market worldwide. The technology solutions collects and transmits information, including that on driving hours, driver identity, fuel usage, distances travelled, locations visited, routes taken, trip duration, and driving speed. The company offers FM Communicator that notifies managers on driver behavior and/or vehicle performance; Trailer Tracking, which provides online trailer tracking and monitoring services for fleet managers; Beam-e, a wireless recovery device; FM Tracer on-board computer to manage drivers and vehicles in real-time; FM Protector, a personal vehicle management system that delivers vehicle and driver information; and Matrix MX1, Matrix MX2, and Matrix MX3, which are vehicle tracking and security products to help customers in case of theft or a hijackig, as well as to offer crash alert, predefined NoGo-zones, and roadside assistance. Its applications include FM-Web, an Internet based fleet management system that allows fleet managers to view and manage their fleet data from a Web browser; Matrix Internet tracking, a Web-based application backed by a smartphone application; and MiX Mobile, a portfolio of smartphone applications. The company also provides accessories, such as wireless kit, voice kit, satellite communication solution, driver code-plug, driver safety system, impact sensor, and keypad, as well as RIBAS display that provides the driver with real-time event information in a visual and audible form inside the cab. In addition, it offers recovery services, carbon offset initiative solutions, development and integration, consumer services, and fleet consulting services, as well as R2MS software that assists in managing various aspects of bureaucratic implications. The company was founded in 1996 and is based in Midrand, South Africa.
