Its loan portfolio comprises real estate and real estate construction loans, commercial loans, and municipal loans, as well as secured and unsecured consumer loans, including home improvement loans. The company also sells brokerage, securities, and insurance products; offers wealth management and trust services; and provides independent insurance agency services, including a range of commercial insurance services and consumer products comprising life, health, auto, and homeowner insurances. As of December 31, 2014, it had 43 offices located in Cheshire, Hillsborough, Grafton, Merrimack, and Sullivan counties of central and western New Hampshire; and Rutland and Windsor counties of Vermont. The company was formerly known as New Hampshire Thrift Bancshares, Inc. and changed its name to Lake Sunapee Bank Group in June 2015. Lake Sunapee Bank Group was founded in 1868 and is headquartered in Newport, New Hampshire.
