Lydall, Inc. designs and manufactures specialty engineered products for the thermal/acoustical, filtration/separation, and life science markets worldwide. The company's Performance Materials segment produces filtration media for use in air and liquid filtration applications, such as clean-space, power generation, and industrial processing. It produces industrial thermal insulation media and products for the cryogenic, building products, appliance, and high temperature insulation markets. This segment offers filtration media and specialty microporous membranes for use in life sciences applications, such as biopharmaceutical pre-filtration and clarification, diagnostic and analytical testing, respiratory protection, high purity process filtration, and transdermal drug delivery. Its Thermal/Acoustical Metals segment provides engineered products primarily to the automotive segment. This segment's products have applications in metal shields used in engine and underbody compartments, as well as direct exhaust mount heat shields that are designed to reduce heat and vibration. The company's Thermal/Acoustical Fibers segment offers lightweight acoustical fiber products used in vehicle applications. Its products include high-performance acoustical barriers, thermal solution for protecting vehicle floors and weight reduction, and noise suppression solutions. The company's Vital Fluids segment provides products for the life sciences market; and produces blood filtration devices, blood transfusion single-use containers, bioprocessing single-use containers, and products for containment of media, buffers, and bulk intermediates. Lydall sells its products primarily to original equipment manufacturers and tier-one suppliers. The company was founded in 1913 and is headquartered in Manchester, Connecticut.
