The company’s Commercial Lending and Leasing segment offers collateralized loans, leases, and other financial services to manufacturers, distributors, and end-users for various equipment and capital assets, such as industrial-related facilities and equipment, vehicles, and corporate aircraft, as well as equipment used in the construction, manufacturing, transportation, media, communications, entertainment, and healthcare industries. Its Consumer segment provides private-label credit cards, personal loans, bank cards, auto loans and leases, mortgages, debt consolidation, home equity loans, deposit and other savings products, and small and medium enterprise lending. The company’s Real Estate segment offers capital and investment solutions, including equity capital for acquisition or development, as well as fixed and floating rate mortgages for new acquisitions or re-capitalizations of commercial real estate; provides restructuring financing for portfolios of commercial mortgage loans, limited partnerships, and tax-exempt bonds; and owns and operates real estate properties. Its Energy Financial Services segment provides structured equity, debt, leasing, partnership financing, project finance, and commercial finance to the energy industry. The company’s GE Capital Aviation Services segment is involved in commercial aircraft leasing and finance, delivering fleet, and financing services to companies in the aviation industry. This segment also co-sponsors an infrastructure private equity fund, which invests in infrastructure projects comprising gateway airports. The company was formerly known as General Electric Credit Corporation and changed its name to General Electric Capital Corporation in November 1987. The company was founded in 1932 and is based in Norwalk, Connecticut. General Electric Capital Corporation operates as a subsidiary of General Electric Company.
