GAIN Capital Holdings, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, provides trading services and solutions to retail and institutional customers worldwide. It specializes in global over-the-counter (OTC) markets, including spot foreign exchange (forex), precious metals, and contracts-for-difference (CFDs). The company operates, which enables its retail customers to access global OTC financial markets, including forex, precious metals, and CFDs on commodities and indices. As of March 12, 2013, it provided liquidity in approximately 400 OTC markets, including 300 currency pairs, 40 equity indices, and 65 commodities. The company also operates FOREXTrader PRO, which provides active traders with a customizable trading environment, decision support tools, and automated trading capabilities; FOREXTrader Mobile, a suite of functional mobile trading solutions; Website Trading, a Web-based trading platform that provides streamlined trading, research, and account management features; MetaTrader 4, a third-party trading platform that allows users to develop and automate their own custom trading strategies or use trading systems developed by third parties; and OEC Trader, which enables its retail clients to access the futures, futures option, and forex markets in a single interface, as well as GTX platform, which enables institutional customers to access forex trading. Its retail customers include self-directed traders and managed account customers; and institutional customer base comprise financial institutions, hedge fund and asset managers, commodity trading, high frequency traders and broker/dealers, and high net-worth individuals. The company was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Bedminster, New Jersey.
