Era Group Inc. provides helicopter transportation services to the offshore oil and gas exploration, development, and production industries. It offers transport and helicopter services, including emergency search and rescue services primarily to the integrated and independent oil and gas companies, and U.S. government agencies; and provides helicopters under contract-lease, air medical services, firefighting support, and Alaska flightseeing tours, and other services. The company also provides helicopters and related services to third-party operators in other countries; operates a fixed base operation at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport and a maintenance repair station in Lake Charles, Louisiana; manufactures and distributes after-market helicopter parts and accessories; and provides instruction, flight simulator, and other training services. As of December 31, 2012, the company owned or operated a total of 175 helicopters consisting of 10 heavy helicopters, 69 medium helicopters, 37 light twin engine helicopters, and 59 light single engine helicopters. It also serves mining companies and cruise line passengers. Era Group Inc. operates in the United States, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, Canada, and Asia. The company was founded in 1948 and is based in Houston, Texas. Era Group Inc. (NYSE:ERA) operates independently of Seacor Holdings Inc. as of January 31, 2013.
