Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc., an independent energy company, engages in the exploration, development, and production of oil and gas primarily in the United States. The company holds interest in crude oil and liquids plays comprising Eagle Ford Shale in south Texas; the Niobrara Formation in Colorado; and the Utica Shale in eastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania. It also owns interest in natural gas plays, including the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania, New York, and West Virginia; and the Barnett Shale in north Texas. As of December 31, 2012, the company had a proved crude oil and liquids reserves of 49.7 million barrels of oil equivalent; proved natural gas reserves of 428.3 billion cubic feet; and operated 300 gross producing oil and gas wells. Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. was founded in 1993 and is based in Houston, Texas.
