The Other business unit's activities include emergency preparedness and crisis response management services to oil, chemical, and marine transportation clients, as well as government agencies in the United States and internationally; agricultural commodity trading and logistics primarily focusing on the origination, trading, and merchandising of sugar, rice, and industrial salt; and an ethanol and industrial alcohol storage and distribution facility. The company was formerly known as SEACOR SMIT Inc. and changed its name to SEACOR Holdings Inc. in March 2004. SEACOR Holdings Inc. was founded in 1989 and is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
