Its Wholesale Accessories segment designs, sources, and markets handbags and accessories under the Daisy Fuentes, Olsenboye, Steve Madden, Steven by Steve Madden, Betsey Johnson, Betseyville, and Big Buddha brand names, as well as cold weather accessories, fashion scarves, wraps, and other trend accessories under the Cejon and the Steve Madden brand names. The company's Retail Segment owns and operates retail stores. As of December 31, 2012, it owned and operated 109 retail stores, including 91 Steve Madden full price stores, 11 Steve Madden outlet stores, 2 Steven stores, 1 Report store, 1 Superga store, and 3 e-commerce Websites. Its First Cost segment operates as a buying agent for footwear products under private labels and licensed brands for large mass-market merchandisers, shoe chains, and other mid-tier retailers. The company's Licensing Segment licenses its Steve Madden and Steven by Steve Madden trademarks for use in connection with the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of sunglasses, eyewear, outerwear, bedding, hosiery and women's fashion apparel, jewelry, and luggage. Steven Madden, Ltd. markets its products through department stores, specialty stores, luxury retailers, value priced retailers, national chains, mass merchants, and catalog retailers in the United States and Canada; and special distribution arrangements in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Mexico, Australia, South Africa, South America, and India. The company was founded in 1990 and is headquartered in Long Island City, New York.
